“Portrait of An Artist”

A piece for Anthony Lane’s review of James Gray’s latest film, “Armageddon Time”. It’s a semi-autobiographical film set in 1980s Queen’s that follows a young boy as he parts with a perception he once had of his world. An intimate and heartbreaking story which acts as a microcosm for America coming to terms with an end of a story it had once told about itself (exemplified by the election of Reagan).
