The Piano Lesson

For an article in Netflix Queue magazine about the process of adapting August Wilson’s timeless play for the screen.

The movie itself is about the things we inherit from our forebears and how the past is inseparable from the present whether we acknowledge it or not. We can try to discard and run away from the pain of it, but in doing so we also risk losing the love and lessons that it has to offer.

This series is about trying to capture those brief moments of stillness and contemplation when history and the present co-exist and create new meaning altogether.
